Just Pals program is designed for children who have either participated in the Junior PALS, PALS or Anger Management programs or demonstrate adequate social knowledge but need additional opportunities to practice their social skills. Positive social interactions and social problem-solving which include dealing with bully behaviors are addressed. Children are provided supportive feedback in a semi-structured environment as they build and refine social skills and relationships.

This program also affords children the opportunity to exchange their thoughts, justify their viewpoints, deal with contradictions and alter their opinions in pursuit of a common group goal. Cooperation is the most important and basic form of human interaction. Mastering skills involved in cooperating successfully are essential for everyone.

Children are taught the basic skills necessary to get along with others. Through fun, interactive group activities, children learn how to manage conflicts and to see situations from someone else's point of view. Active listening, collaborative problem-solving, negotiation, compromising and self management skills are also introduced. Acquisition of these skills helps children become less defensive and more open to listening to the opinions of others. Participants will learn how to gain personal power through assertiveness rather than aggression.
